10 Reasons Why I Use the Parking Spot + A Giveaway

For years, our family was spoiled by living under the shadow of Charlotte Douglas International Airport. We lived so close, that if we were planning to be gone for more than two nights, it was cheaper to Uber than any onsite Charlotte airport parking lot. We took advantage of the door-to-door convenience of not having to hassle with lugging our luggage, car seat, and stroller from car to shuttle to airport. Then, we moved, and our convenient and affordable option evaporated.

We were panicked on our first family trip after we moved. Where would we park? How much would it cost?? How would we lug all this stuff??? Then, we decided to try the Parking Spot. We found their off airport parking to be a cinch.

Here are 11 reasons why we continue to use the Parking Spot for Charlotte airport parking. Oh, and there’s a giveaway at the bottom, but you have to read my post in its entirety first. Or, you can just scroll to the bottom. I won’t be able to tell either way!

Off airport parking eliminates the stress of airport traffic.

Maybe its just me, but I feel like I’m playing Frogger when I turn off Wilkson Boulevard onto the airport’s grounds. Cars are switching lanes trying to navigate towards exists on both the right and left side. Some are going slow, and some are going fast. And then there are the shuttle buses that quite honestly scare the bejesus out of me. I need to pop a Xanax just thinking about it. With the Parking Spot, we park, hop on the shuttle, and let the driver deal with traffic.

There are plenty of shuttles.

The Parking Spot runs shuttles every 5-7 minutes, so you never have to wait long. My last car-to-security time when departing was 12 minutes. Admittedly, I once took me 30 minutes from security-to-car on return, but that was because I landed during the heart of rush hour on a Friday evening. You can always check how far out the shuttle is on the Parking Spots app, so you can wait inside the airport.

Service with a smile (and a little sass)!

Covered parking.

I’m a little OCD when it comes to the cleanliness of my car (don’t even think about eating or drinking in it). I keep it showroom new and hate when it has to sit outside for a week. The Parking Spot offers covered parking to keep my car (somewhat) out of the elements. Added bonus, the Parking Spot offers car wash services, so she’s all clean for me when I pick her up.

Assistance with luggage.

This is huge for those traveling with a family. Parking Spot shuttle drivers are expected to help you with your luggage both on and off the shuttle. When you’re traveling with the above-mentioned stroller, car seat, and all the other “essentials” that come with toddler travel, this perk is invaluable.

Such a powerful little app for making airport parking convenient.

Reserve your spot ahead of time.

Parking at CLT can fill up quickly during the holidays. Once, I was stuck in the hourly deck at $20 a day because nothing else was available. I don’t know about you, but my travel budget can’t handle $140 for airport parking on top of all the other airport gauging. With Parking Spot, you can reserve ahead of time via their app or website. There is a fee, but you can get this waved by signing up for the Spot Club loyalty program.

It’s cheaper than onsite airport parking.

Onsite Charlotte airport parking starts at $7 a day for long-term lots and $10 a day for daily lots (both of which don’t have convenient shuttle pickup shelters) and runs up to $25 a day for valet parking. The Parking Spot costs $5 a day for uncovered parking and $7.95 for covered spots. #nobrainer

Covered airport parking at affordable prices? I’m in!

Scan in and out parking with the Parking Spot app.

How many times have you pulled up to the check-out kiosk in a parking lot only to scramble to find the parking ticket that you just had in your hand? Yeah, me too. Once I do find it, I have to do gymnast contortions to pry my wallet out of my pocket. Meanwhile, the dude behind is honking on his horn and yelling an endless stream of obscenities because he chose the line with the idiot in it who can’t figure out how to pay. The Park Spot app allows you to scan in and out with a QR code that’s connected to your credit card. You swipe and you’re on your way.

It’s easy to earn free days.

I’m a loyalty points junky. I flew to Thailand, stayed like a rock star in a two bedroom suite in Vienna, and drove a rental car in Cape Town all free with points. With the Spot Club, I can earn a free parking day with as little as seven days.

You don’t have to worry about Uber being late.

As much as we loved the convenience of Uber, we always feared early morning flights. What if we couldn’t find an Uber? Or, as was the case once, what if the car doesn’t arrive in the predicted time? We waited a half hour for an Uber that was five minutes away. Apparently, the driver keeps his app open when he’s sleeping. We had to wait for him to catch a quick show and brush his teeth… Don’t even get me started on the fact that he was half asleep driving us!

Free water at checkout.

It’s the little things, right? Flying is extremely dehydrating. The Parking Spot keeps you hydrated with a free bottle of water at check out. Score!
