12 Photos That Will Make You Want to Hike the Coves and Coastal Paths in Palafrugell, Spain

Most of my time in Costa Brava, Spain was spent in Lloret de Mar. While the city was a gracious host for our writers’ conference, it wasn’t my speed. It was a bit too spring breaky for me. Think Myrtle Beach, Jersey Shore, or Daytona, but in Catalonia. It was far from what I pictured idyllic Costa Brava to be.

The coastal town of Calella outside of Palafrugell is what I had in mind.

After the Flors Violes Festival, our group headed to the trails along the Coves and Coastal Paths to hike off the food and wine. The trails are located along Palafrugell’s coast and connect a series of quaint fishing villages, each of which I could waist away eternity in as a writer.

The 11.5 km trail is divided into five different sections. We hiked section two. Our route began at Sant Roc and finished at Calella Beach.

The craggy coast line was filled with plenty of scenic overlooks begging to be photographed.

Here’s a glimpse at what we saw along the Coves and Coastal Paths in Palafrugell:

All photos were taken with a Nikon D3300.

Hiking Coves and Coastal Paths in Palafrugell

The Coves and Coastal Paths are located outside of Palafrugell. Like Palafrugell, the outlying coastal area is not accessible by train.  You can catch the Sarfa bus at Estació del Nord in Barcelona. The trip takes two hours.

Once you’re in the region, you do need to rent a car or take taxis to the various outposts along the trial. Thus, it might be even more fun to rent a car in Barcelona and drive to Palafrugell.

Disclosure – Muchas gracias to Palafrugell for hosting me. Regardless, readers receive my honest feedback as my opinions are not for sale.
